About

I am an up-and-coming astrologer working towards a professional practice. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, I have been studying astrology for more than ten years, and even before then I would devour all kinds of literature, history, psychology, fairy tales, folklore, and mythology, sensing a link between them all. I love Carl Jung, and Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, and Kenneth Anger, and Angela Carter. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized the importance of making connections between every part of my experience; my work in reality television production has contributed as much to my understanding of astrology and the human condition as anything else, and my study of astrology and folklore has tripled and magnified my appreciation for all kinds of media. One of my biggest goals in my astrological journey is to make astrology accessible and useful to those who are interested, and even those who are skeptical. So how can I best accomplish this? By living it myself- being able to look critically at my life from an astrological standpoint, and work towards what I know I can be. I want to have perspective on my own situation, but not without a sense of humor or a sense of forgiveness. (After all, I’m still pretty young as far as astrologers go, a fact which never ceases to amaze.)

This blog will serve many functions, which I hope will be useful in different ways to many people. But among them, I want to demonstrate that while I know quite a bit about this subject, I am still learning. I am learning how to be a more astute reader, a more direct and sensitive communicator, and most importantly, a more enlightened person. So read, enjoy, comment, and please tell me if you deeply agree or think I’m woefully wrong- I’m ready to hear it.

  1. HI
I recently found your blog and I believe I have the same conjunction of Neptune Chiron and Venus you mentioned at 26 degrees Aquarius
I have been in interested in astrology for over 20 years and have not had my transits done for this year as of yet.

What will be the results of this transit?? I already have a good idea as far as my relationships have been going but wondered what else I can expect

    • Hey, thanks for stopping by. There are a lot of ways to understand transiting Neptune and Chiron on natal Venus. When Neptune hits your Venus, either natally or by transit, it blows a fog over your relationships, as in: you aren’t always clear about what you want out of a relationship, you don’t see partners for who they really are and end up disappointed, you over-idealize and over-romanticize everything, etc. Chiron, representing the Wounded Healer, is just that when he touches Venus: you must deal with a lot of woundedness and pain around relationships, but ultimately it’s your task to learn from them and come out stronger. If you have Venus in Aquarius, I can sympathize. For the most part we’re able to retain a great deal of independence and space, even while in solid relationships, but Neptune and Chiron double-teaming it really messes with how clear-headed we think we normally are where other people are concerned.

My advice to you (and me, since I’ve got the same thing going on) would be to just stay super-aware when dealing with potential love interests, and even hold yourself back a little bit. There’s no need to give someone your whole heart right away, especially if you’re just getting to know them and you’re not entirely sure where things are going. I think it’s also a sign to sort of take your pain in stride, and know that if anything goes wrong relationship-wise, it’s probably for the better. If it’s really worth preserving, you can work through it, but if not, there’s something important to be learned there as to how to move on. And because Neptune and Chiron are slow-moving bodies, this will probably be the case for a little while- at least the next year and a half, two years.

Of course, other factors in your chart, including transits of Venus and Mars and anything in your 7th House and such, will also play a part in what you can expect for relationships this year. But that’s my essential message for Neptune and Chiron on Venus. Good luck, and come back soon!

      • Very interesting: Looking back on how this great Triple conjunction has hit me this year I can identify with this . Only mine on Mars at 24 Aqua. I guess that would be more sexual
and Jupiter rules my 7th house cusp so I had the same relationship fog.
So for two years I had been having a very Neptunian,Karmic, wounding relationship with an alcoholic Musician. I really felt bewitched by him. When this triple thing came over me in May, it was like the spell had been broken. Astrology suddenly took over my life like I had had some kind of awakening. It gave me the courage to dissolve the relationship once and for all. I haven’t looked back since. It’s been life changing. I really feel like I’m healing now.
But I am getting involved in another Neptunian relationship, only this time its being played out spiritually rather than in drugs and drink. I think you have to be very careful of this while in the fog as it only makes things foggier. It is also unconsummated as we have not yet met… It could be all fantasy, but we meet for the first time very soon.
Lucy where is your Venus? Do we have a Venus/Mars conjunction? My Black Moon Lilith also at 22deg Aqua…
Maybe that’s why I dig this Blog so much:)))

  2. Dear Lucy, I really love your blog both for its astrolgical insights and for ’speaking’ in your own particular voice. And yes, there are real similarities in our experiences of the world.Isee whatyou mean when you say “I get you”.Kristina

  5. Hi Lucy!!!

I’ve just discover your astrology website and it is like fresh air between all the astro-mess on the web.
I have a stellium in 10th house (mercury, sun and saturn) so it was really helpful to read about your stellium with sun, mercury and venus.

    Keep it up!!!

  6. Hi Lucy,

I found you through a comment you left on ElsaElsa about my blog, astroloshop.com! I just wanted to say thank you for the kind words and let you know that I think your blog is wonderful too. I’m so glad I found it and will be reading you from now on!

    Yay,

    Meredith

  7. Hi Lucy,

I’ve been following your blog for several months now and just wanted to let you know that it is excellent! I’m struck by the seeming similarities in our personalities/life situations and really enjoy your witty, intelligent, and “tell-it-like-it is” point of view. I also relate because I myself am a young astrologer and feel that you your are definately a true “kindred spirit”! I was recently looking at some of your achived posts where you had mentioned having two T-squares natally – if you think that’s challenging, plug in this info and have yourself a good laugh: 6/17/1981 2:26pm Newtown CT USA. See why I can sympathize? I would say it’s a definately a “character builder”(ha-ha). It’s been a blast reading about your experiences and the zesty, animated way you express your substantial knowledge of this subject. You’re smart, articulate, and hilariously frank. I’m looking forward to reading more, and best of luck with the home/academic challenges you’ve been dealing with recently.
P.S – would love to see you post your natal chart w/or w/o current transits for the month. I think many of your readers are fairly well-versed in astrology and it might make it more of an intereactive experience. I find as I read your blog I often have insight or commentary – might be fun to make it more of a dialogue, or even just to illustrate more clearly what you are blogging about for those that may be uninitiated. Just a suggestion but thought it might be one you would like, o ye of Gemini Asc.

    • Alethea (love your name, btw),

Thanks so much for your kind words! It really means a lot that you’ve been able to relate so much to what I’ve written. I’m constantly working to present my own experience in terms of astrology in a way that it can be useful to readers and encourage them to do the same thing with their own charts, and it’s always nice to get reinforcement that it’s actually serving that function. I do really like your suggestion- I’ve thought about putting up my natal chart for that very purpose, in case someone else might catch something I didn’t. Part of me is slightly afraid that it might be almost too personal- while the Pluto part of me is fine with that, the Pisces part of me has to learn to draw the line somewhere. But I’ll definitely consider it, since there are a lot of major ingresses and aspects coming up soon.

p.s. I did take a look at your chart, and I can TOTALLY see what you mean. Those are some intense T-squares. Still, though, having a Moon-Neptune conjunction in Sagittarius and a Sun-Uranus inconjunct has got to be kind of fun by themselves!

  8. Hi Lucy love the blog!

Interested by your notes on the effects of the Neptune/Chiron/Jupiter on your Venus complex in Aquarius…since May 2008 Neptune et al have been squaring my natal Venus in Scorpio (24′31″). I have to laugh like a madwoman at the astrology books that tell me Neptune is so subtle you wouldn’t notice it!

As Neptune stationed, 16″ from the approaching square, to natal Venus, I was on holiday. Walking towards an art gallery when I was confronted by a young man – the vision of perfect loveliness. The artist in fact. Fell in love (a bit obsessively – it is a Scorpio Venus after all…)

I fantasised the whole time, bought his paintings (of ballerinas…)loaned him money, found him a place to live…and, despite 25 years plus studying astrology, refused to believe he was anything but wonderful. During the retrograde period it wore off. The emptiness I felt made me realise there were big issues I needed to address in my marriage. I’m now separated…

And after separation? a short relationship with a man with serious addictive personality issues – much easier to identify this time around , I removed myself from the relationship very quickly – but not before I had fallen in love with another man (again with a heavy Neptune signature) and equally unrealistic expectations on my part – the boundaries between love , sex and friendship are unclear at best, barriers are constantly being erected and demolished, a process needless to say not in my control!

As Neptune approaches my Venus for the final time, what is emerging from the fog is this: it is my attitude towards men and relationships that needs refining, (redflagged in my birthchart incidentally by the exact Sun-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio, which is part of very bothersome T-square with Moon conjunct Saturn exactly conjunct my Aquarian MC and opposed by Mars in Leo).

But it’s actually more than this, love, values, finances – all Venus associations in fact, need ‘grounding’ in some way, to be made real and responsible; illusions need to go! During this same period, my spending on shoes, cosmetics and lingerie has also been….Neptunian!

One thing – as the transit nears it’s end I can take heart from other major transit experiences (Saturn hitting every point on my T-Square – detailed above – was one helluva learning process a few years ago)

When the mist clears, things will be different if you let them – it’s only by refusing to let go of worn out parts of your life that the pain continues…( and maybe this is the healing bit – Jupiter and Chiron having their say…) so why am I still yearning for a perfect love? So much so I have now joined a dating website. It’s called ‘Soulmates’ – how Neptune transiting square Venus is that? You would not believe the numbers of Pisceans, models photographers, film editors, keen sailors and former addicts looking for love…

Sorry for the long one…have to go now as I have Mars stationed in my 4th for the next 6 months – where he will no doubt declare war on my T Square…

Also Saturn trining my Moon, Natal Saturn and the MC, for the same six months…

Did I mention Uranus’ final transiting trine to Venus? Oh yes…

    Ciao!

  9. Hi Marina,

The CF of D (as everyone is now calling it) on your natal Mars makes a lot of sense- on the upside, it is a really powerful conjunction for spiritual pursuits such as astrology. I can see how falling on your natal Mars, it would really inspire a passion for it, and clearly you’ve just run with it since then, which is awesome. (And I find that in terms of seeing people for who they really are, astrology can be one of the very best tools for that.) As for breaking out of that wounding relationship, I wonder if that could be attributed to Pluto going retrograde about a month prior as well. I bet now that Pluto has gone direct again, you’ll be able to have a lot more perspective on this new Neptunian relationship you mention, so at least if anything feels foggy, you’ll be able to take it with a grain of salt.

My Venus is at 25 Aquarius, so yes, I believe we do have a Venus-Mars conjunction. Your Mars is also conjunct my MC and exactly square my Mars- so I’m personally very glad that we’re penpals. :)
